Man caught red‑handed with stolen motorcycle in QC

A 22-year-old man was arrested after police caught him pushing a stolen motorcycle during a routine patrol in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, on Sunday night, Aug. 2
Operatives of the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station spotted the suspect, identified only as alias “Gum,” pushing the Honda motorcycle along Don Vicente St. near Filinvest Gate 3 at around 7:30 p.m.
When asked to present documents proving ownership or lawful possession of the motorcycle bearing plate number HU7335, the suspect failed to do so, prompting police to bring him to the Barangay Bagong Silangan Hall for further verification.
While officers were checking the motorcycle's ownership, its owner arrived at the barangay hall and reported that the vehicle had been stolen earlier that day.
The victim told police he had parked the motorcycle in front of a computer shop along M.H. Del Pilar St. in Barangay Bagong Silangan at around 12 noon on Aug. 2 but found it missing when he returned.
After presenting documents proving ownership of the motorcycle, the victim confirmed that it was the stolen vehicle, prompting police to arrest the suspect at around 10:30 p.m.
The motorcycle was later turned over to its owner, while the suspect remains under the custody of the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station and will face a complaint for violating Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
