Dennis Trillo on doing another BL series: 'Hindi imposible'

Known as the “Kapuso Drama King,” Dennis Trillo continues to make his mark in the entertainment industry, taking on groundbreaking roles that have helped shape his decades long career.
One of the roles that left a lasting impact on audiences is his turn as  Eric Del Mundo in the 2013 series "My Husband’s Lover", which also starred Tom Rodriguez.
During his contract renewal with GMA, Dennis was asked if he would be open to doing another BL (Boys Love) series in the future.
"Hindi impossible na mangyari yun lalo na ngayon kasi mas open na yung mga tao ngayon. Noong panahon na yun mga 10 years ago, marami pang nagtatago. Pero ngayon mas possible na kasi mas open minded na yung mga tao sa ganung klaseng genre, kasi tingnan niyo nga yung 'Heated Rivalry,'" Dennis said.
The actor admitted "My Husband’s Lover" was a career-defining moment for him.
"Kasi hindi lang Kapuso yung mga nanonood that time, parang naging universal na gawain panoorin yung show dahil kakaiba siya, maraming makakarelate, hindi na lang puro babae nanonood. Nagbibigay din siya ng ibang tema," Dennis said.

Looking back, Dennis also shared that playing Gabriel in "Mulawin" was among serendipitous moments that made him love his job even more.
"Doon sa 'Mulawin,' yun yung pinaka-first, biggest break talaga na nakilala ako. So, naisip ko na, wow, pwede palang mangyari na dahil sa isang show, isang project e, medyo malaking mileage yung magagawa sa isang artista. So, yun yung naging motivation ko na pwede palang mangyari itong ganitong phenomenon," he said.
A moment of gratitude
Starting his career in modeling, Dennis never expected to be in the position where he is now.
"Maraming salamat sa lahat ng pagkataon, pagtiwala na binigay ninyo sa akin. Totoo masasabi ko na nagbago ang buhay ko dahil sa GMA. Dahil sa napakarami, hindi ko na mabilang na ilang proyekto," he said.
Despite unexpected hurdles along the way, Dennis kept his head high and strived for greatness.
"Naging rollercoaster yung career ko dahil nahirapan akong balansehin yung personal kong buhay at career. Sa resurgence at resurrection ng career ko, gusto kong magpasalamat sa Agila Entertainment dahil mas napagtanto ko na marami pa pala akong kayang gawin sa career at buhay ko.
"At syempre, dito sa GMA, nakilala ko rin yung asawa ko. Kaya kung nasaan siya, nandito rin ako. Gusto ko ring magpasalamat sa GMA sa lahat ng tiwala at mga trabahong ibinigay sa akin. Hindi ko makakalimutan kung paano ninyo binago ang buhay ko, pati na rin ang buhay ng mga taong nakapaligid sa akin at sa lahat ng natulungan ko," he said.
