Couple robbed while sheltering from rain in Rizal

Rizal police on Tuesday, Aug. 4, said they are pursuing four armed men who allegedly robbed a couple of their motorcycle, mobile phones, and wallet while the victims were taking shelter from the rain in Taytay.

The Taytay Municipal Police Station reported that the incident occurred on July 29 but was only brought to their attention on Monday, Aug. 3.

According to the initial investigation, the 21-year-old victim and his girlfriend were waiting for the rain to stop in front of a motorcycle parts and accessories shop on Ortigas Avenue Extension in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, at around 1 a.m.

Police said four unidentified men riding two motorcycles suddenly arrived, dismounted, and declared a holdup while pointing a firearm and a bladed weapon at the victims.

The suspects then forcibly took the victims’ motorcycle, a Yamaha Mio Aerox S BRW5 with plate number D828IK, before fleeing toward Kaytikling.

They also seized the victims’ mobile phones and a wallet.

Authorities said available CCTV footage did not capture the holdup itself but showed the suspects arriving on two motorcycles.

The investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.
