Caloocan jeepney drivers to get P10K under free ride program

Caloocan jeepney drivers will get up to P10,000 each from the city’s free ride program, which guarantees income while commuters enjoy no fare trips amid rising fuel costs.
City officials said each participating driver will earn P2,500 for four hours of trips per day.
The program will run for four days, allowing drivers to collect a total of P10,000.
The initiative will be carried out in coordination with 2,700 members of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Associations (JODA).
Commuters can ride for free on designated jeepney routes, while drivers are assured of guaranteed income from the city government.
Officials added that the program aims to ease the burden of higher fuel costs on both commuters and drivers.
Interested drivers were advised to coordinate with their respective JODA presidents.
Routes covered by the free ride program will be announced separately.
The city government said the initiative is part of its broader effort to support communities affected by the global fuel crisis.
