Team Spirit rules MSC 2026; Team Falcons PH misses podium

  • Team Spirit pulled off a nail-biting 4-3 victory over Yangon Galacticos of Myanmar to reign supreme in the 2026 Mid-Season Cup at the Esports World Cup in Paris, France over the weekend.

For the first time ever, a team outside the Southeast Asian region has reigned supreme in an S-tier Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports tournament.

Team Spirit pulled off a nail-biting 4-3 victory over Yangon Galacticos of Myanmar to reign supreme in the 2026 Mid-Season Cup at the Esports World Cup in Paris, France over the weekend.

The Eastern Europe Central Asia (EECA) Dragons raced to a commanding 3-1 lead in the series but still had to fend off a tough stand from Yangon Galacticos which did just enough to drag the contest to a winner-take-all Game 7.

With the two teams engaging in a tug-of-war in the decider, Team Spirit gained the upperhand when jungler Zaur "zaur egoist" Magomadov secured the Lord to save his team from what could have been a miserable team fight after two of their heroes were nearly picked off by YG.

Instead, the Lord push proved to be the difference as Team Spirit took down the base and won its first major title in MLBB esports.

Team Spirit, the organization widely known for its success in Dota 2, ended a nine-year dominance of the SEA region or since teams from Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia ruled the MSC since its inception in 2017.

Mathaios “Kid Bomba” Chatzilakos was named the Finals MVP, bagging $25,000 while the rest of the team which aside from Zaur Egoist, also included Kemiran “Sunset Lover” Kochkarov, Anton “Hiko” Pak and Stanislav “Sawo” Reshniak claimed the $1,000,000 top prize.

Meanwhile, Team Falcons PH got swept by Indonesian rival Onic Esports, 3-0 led by Filipino imports Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol and Duane “Kelra” Pillas in the battle for third.

Onic Esports bagged $250,000 for finishing third while Team Falcons PH, the runners up of the MPL Philippines Season 17, settled for the fourth place with a $150,000 prize.
