Focus crimes down by 36.12% in July 2026-- PNP

Focus crimes across the country dropped by 36.12 percent last month compared to the same period last year, the Philippine National Police (PNP) disclosed on Monday, August 3.
Focus crimes are classified into two: crimes against person which are murder, homicide, physical injury and rape; and, crimes against property which robbery, theft, carnapping and motorcycle theft.
From 3,458 focus crime incidents in July last year, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said it went down to 2,209 incidents last month, or a decrease of 1,249 incidents or 36.12 percent.
“These results reflect the continuing efforts of the PNP, together with our communities and partner agencies, to prevent crime, strengthen police visibility, and keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Nartatez.
The decline, according to Nartatez, was observed in eight focus crimes with rape posting the highest decrease at 56.93 percent, followed by motor vehicle theft by 46.15 percent, and motorcycle theft by 42.59 percent.
In Western Visayas, focus crimes went down by 38.09 percent for the same month compared to the same period last year.
Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño, director of the Police Regional Office 6, said focus crime incidents declined from 168 cases recorded in July 1–31, 2025 to 104 cases in the same month this year.
He said rape posted the highest decrease, dropping by 78.26 percent, or from 46 cases to 10 cases; followed by carnapping of motorcycles, which declined by 76.92 percent, or from 13 cases to three cases.
Murder cases decreased by 28.57 percent, or from 14 to 10 cases, while robbery declined by 15.38 percent, from 13 to 11 cases. Cases of theft dropped by 13.63 percent, or from 44 to 38 cases.
Homicide remained at eight cases during both periods.
"These numbers reflect the collective effort of our police officers and our communities to make Western Visayas safer. We will continue building on these gains by strengthening police visibility, improving response capabilities, and working closely with our stakeholders to prevent crime before it happens," Tuaño said.
He likewise encouraged the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities and incidents through the nearest police station or other official police communication channels.
