Fire destroys 14 houses in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Fourteen houses were destroyed by a fire in Sitio Baliwasan Grande, Barangay Baliwasan, this city, on Sunday, Aug. 2.
A total of 16 families were displaced by the blaze that broke out at around 2 p.m. Arson investigators are probing possible short circuit from a house as cause of the fire.
Investigation added that neighbors extinguished an earlier fire and advised the homeowner to switch off the main circuit breaker to prevent another blaze.
Hours later, the same wiring reportedly short circuited anew, igniting a second blaze which quickly spread to adjoining houses.
The fire was put under control after nearly an hour. No casualties were reported and follow-up investigation is ongoing.
