Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon summoned representatives of Maynilad Water Services due to growing complaints about delayed completion of its Wastewater Conveyance System Project at the boundary of Barangays Buli and Cupang.
Biazon said the construction of the project has affected the daily commute of residents, students and employees.
The mayor asked Maynilad for an explanation on why the completion project has been delayed. The project aims to bring wastewater from households to Maynilad’s Cupang Water Reclamation Facility.
Maynilad and its contractor told the mayor that they failed to finish the project on time as they needed to change the construction methodology, which should pass the Muntinlupa Engineering Department, a reason why their work permit expired.
After a consultation meeting, they were issued a provisional permit to continue the project.
To date, the project is reportedly 81.67 percent complete and the target of completion is in December, the mayor said.
Maynild committed to Biazon to add traffic flagmen to help in managing traffic, especially during hours when students go to school and come home from Buli Elementary School and Muntinlupa Business High School-Main.
Biazon told Maynilad and the contractor to follow the promised timetable and ensure that the construction is safe.
