The Las Piñas City government has ordered increased police presence in all public schools and the strengthening of campus security measures following the fatal stabbing of a 13-year-old student inside Las Piñas National High School on July 31.

Mayor April Aguilar ordered the Las Piñas City Police to intensify police visibility in public schools as the city continues to review and enhance existing security protocols in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) and school authorities.

Aguilar said metal detectors and security scanners have been installed in public schools across the city as part of established safety measures aimed at protecting students, teachers, and school personnel.

The mayor strongly condemned all forms of violence, particularly incidents occurring within school premises, stressing that schools must remain safe spaces where students can learn, grow, and thrive without fear.

She said the city government is maintaining close coordination with the Schools Division Office of Las Piñas, the administration of Las Piñas National High School, and the Las Piñas City Police, headed by Col. Fermin Armendares, to closely monitor developments and the ongoing investigation to ensure that appropriate actions are promptly undertaken.

Aguilar also directed the City Social Welfare and Development Office, in coordination with the DepEd, to conduct debriefing sessions, counseling, and psychosocial interventions for students affected by the incident to help them cope with the tragedy. 

She assured the public that the city government would extend necessary assistance to the victim's family while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening campus safety and preventing similar incidents in the future.
