LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor and musician Jared Leto has denied allegations of sexual misconduct made by four women, saying the claims are “absolutely and categorically false.”

“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life,” Leto, 54, said in a statement to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The allegations were featured in the BBC documentary “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” which examines claims from four women who said they experienced sexual misconduct involving Leto between 2002 and 2016, when they were teenagers and he was an adult.

The women, whose full names were not disclosed in the documentary, made various allegations, including claims of sexual assault, statutory rape, threats of sexual violence and inappropriate communications.

The BBC said it corroborated the women’s accounts, though the allegations could not be independently verified by The Associated Press. The broadcaster said Leto did not respond to requests for comment before the documentary’s release.

Leto was also accused of misconduct by nine women in a report published by Air Mail last year. His representative denied those allegations at the time.

The Oscar-winning actor, known for his supporting role in “Dallas Buyers Club,” is also the lead vocalist of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. He recently appeared as Skeletor in “Masters of the Universe.”
