Jairus Aquino and Nicole Omillo became emotional as they officially stepped into the spotlight as the final love team to headline Viva One’s adaptation of Gwy Saludes’ bestselling “University Series.”
During the media conference for “Our Yesterday’s Escape,” the pair could not hold back their tears after watching the trailer for the first time and realizing that their long-awaited moment had finally arrived.
For Jairus, being chosen to close the popular franchise came with excitement and pressure, especially after seeing the strong support from fans who have followed the series from the beginning.
“Mas naramdaman ko ang pressure and, I guess, we would be able to use that pressure to give these people a very good series,” Jairus said.
He described “Our Yesterday’s Escape” as the heaviest chapter of the franchise because of the many emotions and elements involved.
“We’re just really happy na nandito kami ngayon, doing this last and final book, which is for us, the heaviest book kasi maraming elements,” he said.
“Blood, sweat, and tears. Everything, gagawin talaga namin lahat,” Jairus added.
Nicole also shared her mix of nervousness and excitement as the series nears its release.
“Nakakakaba po na we’ve been doing it nga for a few years now, but it’s an honor to do this. Nakakakaba pero excited,” she said.
She admitted that the overwhelming support from fans made the experience more emotional, especially since they were carrying the responsibility of ending a beloved series.
“Maybe we’re just really overwhelmed with the love and support we’re getting from everybody, especially we’re (to star in) the last book,” Nicole shared.
The actress also recalled a memorable moment during the Vivarkada Grand Concert, where she and Jairus performed together for the first time at the Araneta Coliseum.
Admitting it was an emotional moment, she explained, “Kasi sa lahat ng series, lagi po kaming nagpa-pass by lang. Never po kaming nagtatagpo."
“Our Yesterday’s Escape” streams on Viva One on Aug. 29.
