Former Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Romeo Jalosjos Sr. has died at the age of 85, his son, Seth “Bullet” Jalosjos, announced Sunday.
“It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved father, Romeo “Nonong” Garcia Jalosjos,” Seth Jalosjos, a former Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte mayor and congressman, said in a Facebook post.
“A distinguished media man, statesman, visionary, and pioneer, he dedicated his life to serving others with unwavering courage, compassion, and purpose,” Seth Jalosjos added.
“To the people of Zamboanga del Norte, he was more than a public servant—he was a leader who listened, a champion of the underserved, and a father to his people. His life’s work was driven not by personal ambition, but by a genuine desire to uplift lives and create opportunities for generations to come.”
Seth Jalosjos also paid tribute to his father.
“To us, he was simply Dad—our source of strength, our protector, our greatest teacher, and the heart of our family. His wisdom, generosity, resilience, and unconditional love shaped who we are and will continue to guide us for the rest of our lives.”
Born Nov. 24, 1940, Romeo Jalosjos is a founder of Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE), the long-time producer of the noontime television program "Eat Bulaga!"
He started his political career in 1984 as a representative to the Batasang Pambansa and served multiple terms as representative of Zamboanga del Norte.
Seth Jalosjos said wake and viewing will be held at The Heritage Park in Taguig City from Aug. 3 to 5. His remains will be taken to the Gloria de Dapitan Complex in Dapitan City from Aug. 6 to 12.
No cause, date, or time of death was revealed by Romeo Jalosjos’ family as of posting time.
