Barely a year old, and Makati bar Problem Child is already making waves in the region, ranking No. 44 in Asia’s Top 50 Bars and being named the Best Bar in the Philippines.
“It’s an honor to represent what we have here in the Philippines. At the same time, there’s definitely a sense of pressure that comes with it, but it’s a responsibility we’re proud to carry,” said co-founder and managing partner Kevin Corales.
Drinkers bask in a space that’s minimalist in decor, but maximalist in lighting, music, and experience, spatial manifestations of Kevin and partners Wendy Esteban and Patrick Leyble’s sensibilities, which translate emotion and memory into fun and imaginative cocktails that change every quarter.

“There shouldn’t be limitations when it comes to creating drinks, as long as we respect the classics and understand the foundations of cocktails,” Kevin said. “We’re always thinking outside the box to build our own character and explore new flavors, while staying true to who we are as a brand. We believe that mindset has helped us create cocktails and experiences that genuinely reflect who we are.”
The double recognition has only further ignited the team’s passion for excellence, and of course, fun. “We’ll keep doing what we do and stay true to who we are, wherever that takes us. More than the recognition, our focus has always been creating a memorable experience for every guest,” Kevin noted. “We want people to leave remembering not just the drinks, but how they felt when they were here.”

With their House Problem or signature cocktails changing every three months, Kevin’s advice to newcomers is simply to talk about themselves: “We focus on creating a menu with something for everyone. We usually ask our guests what they enjoy drinking and recommend a cocktail based on their preferences, so their first experience with us feels personal.”
The title of The Best Bar in Asia 2026 was awarded to Guangzhou’s Hope and Sesame, rising from its previous rank of No.29 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2025. There were 14 new entries, including Problem Child. According to Asia's 50 Best Bars’ director of Community Faye Huggett, “It's a clear reflection of how Asia's cocktail culture is being shaped not just by its traditional capitals, but by a new generation of bars redefining what hospitality looks like across the region.”
