Manny Pacquiao remains committed to facing Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a professional fight after their planned rematch was postponed.

The 47-year-old boxing icon said Friday, July 31, that the bout is being rescheduled for early 2027 due to Mayweather’s prior commitments, including an exhibition fight this year.

“Mayweather will have an exhibition [fight]... but our match next year will be a pro fight,” Pacquiao said in Filipino during the Maharlika Pilipinas Pickleball Tour press briefing, where he arrived three hours later than the scheduled time.

Pacquiao’s camp previously said efforts were being made to arrange a non-professional bout for him later this year, but the eight-division world champion reiterated that his clash with Mayweather will be a legitimate professional contest.

Pacquiao, who holds a 62-8-3 record, last fought professionally on July 19, 2025, when he drew with WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas.

The highly anticipated rematch between Pacquiao and Mayweather, initially backed by streaming giant Netflix, was postponed after the American boxing legend became embroiled in a breach-of-contract lawsuit filed by CSI Sports Events.
