First Lady welcomes new Coast Guard Auxiliary members, urges patriotism and volunteerism

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has urged the newest members of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) to uphold the values of patriotism, service, and volunteerism as they join the organization's volunteer force supporting the Philippine Coast Guard.

In a Facebook post after witnessing the oath-taking and donning ceremony at the Goldenberg Mansion in Manila on July 30, the First Lady congratulated the new auxiliary members as they embarked on what she described as a new journey in public service.

"Honored to witness your maiden voyage, as you join the ranks of the men and women sworn to protect our country's seas and coasts," she said.

"As you set sail on this new journey, may you continue to uphold the values of patriotism, service, and volunteerism that you've always had in you," she added.

In a separate Instagram post, the First Lady said she had personally witnessed the commitment and dedication of many of the new members before they formally joined the PCGA.

"Having worked alongside most of you, I've seen the hard work, long hours and quiet dedication behind your service," she said.

She also congratulated the new members on receiving their ranks and taking their oaths, saying they now carry "bigger responsibilities but with the same heart for service to our country."

Araneta-Marcos has been a member of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary since July 2024, when she joined the PCGA Executive Squadron and was conferred the honorary rank of Auxiliary Vice Admiral.

President Marcos later commended the First Lady for joining the volunteer organization, citing her commitment to preserving the country's marine environment and encouraging more Filipinos to become members of the PCGA.

The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer civilian arm of the PCG that assists the service in promoting maritime safety, protecting the marine environment, supporting search and rescue operations, and strengthening community relations.
