Pasay offers free training, scholarships for jobs

The Pasay City government has launched the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) Scholarship, offering free courses in bread and pastry production, cookery, and driving, along with entrepreneurship training and livelihood support.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the scholarship aims to equip Pasayeños with industry-recognized skills to improve their employment opportunities and encourage them to start their own small businesses.
She noted that the STEP Scholarship is part of the city government’s continuing efforts to strengthen workforce development by providing accessible technical and vocational education to residents.
Under the program, qualified applicants aged 18 to 55 may enroll in Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) National Certificate II (NC II) courses.
Bread and Pastry Production (NC II) is a 21-day training program consisting of three days of entrepreneurship training, eight days of online classes, and 10 days of face-to-face sessions.
Cookery (NC II) is a 40-day program with three days of entrepreneurship training, 10 days of online instruction, and 27 days of face-to-face training.
Driving (NC II) is a 15-day course composed of three days of classroom lectures and 12 days of onsite practical training.
Aside from free training, scholars will also receive competency assessment, a daily training allowance, and a starter toolkit to help them begin their own livelihood or business after completing the program.
