Palace hopes for win-win solution amid TRO on NCR wage hike

Malacañang hopes for a win-win solution for both employees and employers following the suspension of the first tranche of the P85 daily wage hike for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said they are hoping that issues concerning the implementation of wage hike would be addressed, benefitting both parties.
"Mas maganda po talaga na maging balanse ang pagtingin dito para hindi magkaroon ng mas malalim na problema o suliranin para both parties, ang employees and employers, ay magkaroon ng win-win solution sa issue na ito (It is important to strike a balanced approach to avoid creating deeper problems for both parties, so that employees and employers can arrive at a win-win solution to the issue)," Castro said on Friday, July 31.
She assured employees in Metro Manila that the government will continue to pursue what workers rightfully deserve.
Castro echoed Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis Tolentino's statement that the fight for higher minimum wage "does not end here."
"Ayon nga po kay Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino, tayo ay susunod sa korte kung ano pinag-uutos ng korte, pero hindi pa po dito natatapos ang laban (Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said the government will comply with whatever the court orders. However, he stressed that the fight does not end there)," Castro said.
"Ilalaban po kung ano po ang nakikita ng pamahalaan na nararapat sa ating mga magagawa (The government will continue to pursue what it believes is appropriate for Filipino workers)," Castro added.
The Palace official added that the government will likewise listen to the concerns of the private sector to strike a balance approach in the wage hike implementation.
"Pero pakikinggan din po ng pamahalaan kung ano po ang hinaing ng mga negosyante (But we wil also listen to the concerns of the business sector)," Castro said.
The P60 wage hike was supposed to be implemented on July 25 but a TRO was issued by a local court in Metro Manila that put the wage hike on hold.
The second tranche for the remaining P25 is set in January next year.
