South Korean actress Moon Geun Young has married longtime boyfriend and musical actor Jung Pyeong, her agency confirmed, ending years of speculation about the couple's relationship.
The actress recently tied the knot in a private family gathering instead of holding a traditional wedding ceremony, according to a statement released by her agency.
"Moon Geun Young recently got married. She did not hold a wedding ceremony but instead held a quiet gathering with only family members for a meal," the agency said.
Moon later confirmed the news herself in a handwritten letter posted on Instagram, sharing the milestone directly with her fans.
"I'm getting married!" she wrote.
The 39-year-old actress said she had found the person with whom she wanted to share the rest of her life.
"I've met someone I want to walk the road I once walked alone with, someone I want to share the worries I once carried alone with, and someone to make each other smile over even the smallest things," she wrote.
"Instead of walking through life alone, the two of us will now build our future together."
Moon also thanked her supporters, asking for their blessings as she embarks on a new chapter.
"Rather than concern or worry, I sincerely ask for your congratulations and encouragement," she wrote. "As much as you cheer me on, I will work even harder to live a good life."
She added that she hoped to repay fans' years of support by returning "an even better version" of herself.
Moon Geun Young began her career as a child actress and rose to prominence through the 2000 television drama "Autumn in My Heart." She later established herself as one of South Korea's leading actresses with acclaimed performances in dramas including "Painter of the Wind," "Cinderella's Sister," and "The Goddess of Fire."
Her husband, Jung Pyeong, is a musical actor who has built his career on the South Korean theater stage.
