ILOILO CITY – Hotels and other accommodation facilities were fully occupied as more than 5,400 delegates attended the second quarter national assembly of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) here.
The PCL-Iloilo Chapter led by president JP Peñol scrambled to find places where delegates could stay for the July 29 to 31 gathering at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICon).
“This is by far the biggest national assembly attendance outside Metro Manila in a span of 35 years,” said Peñol in a statement.
Peñol said PCL delegates from Iloilo province gave up their hotel bookings to cater to accommodate the huge number of delegates.
Peñol said this a way of showing hospitality to participants of the assembly for Local Legislative Education Program.
Some PCL delegates stayed in condominium units and accommodations outside of this city and neighboring towns.
The assembly was graced by Cabinet Secretary Benhur Abalos, PCL President Benjamin “Benjie” Abalos III, and PCL Chairman Raul Corro.
