BACOLOD CITY – A 47-year-old carpenter allegedly set his house on fire in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental following an argument with his wife past midnight on Thursday, July 30.
Investigation said that 42-year-old Lyn and her husband had a heated altercation inside their residence and left with their children for their safety to their daughter’s house nearby.
While they were there, the suspect, who was allegedly intoxicated, burned their house, which was seen by his daughter.
The fire rapidly spread throughout and left P60,000 damage to property.
Responding barangay officials apprehended and turned over the suspect to authorities.
In a radio interview, the suspect denied the allegation, saying that he had no intention to burn the house.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is conducting follow-up investigation.
