Woman blackmailed with intimate video after motel meet-up

Police arrested a man in Quezon City after he allegedly threatened to leak an intimate video of a 22‑year‑old woman he met online following their motel encounter.
The suspect, identified only as alias "JC," 36, was nabbed on July 27 by operatives of the Talipapa Police Station in front of a fast-food restaurant along Quirino Highway in Barangay Talipapa after the victim sought police assistance.
Investigation showed the victim met the suspect online after he offered her financial assistance, and they later agreed to meet.
On July 18, the two checked into a motel in Pasig City, where they allegedly had an intimate encounter.
Before leaving, the suspect allegedly deleted their online conversation and blocked the victim's contact number, leaving her unaware of his true identity.
More than a week later, the victim allegedly received messages from the suspect threatening to upload their intimate video unless she agreed to see him again.
Alarmed by the threat, the victim sought help from the Talipapa Police Station, which immediately launched an entrapment operation that resulted in the suspect's arrest.
Recovered from the suspect were a gray VIVO cellphone and a blue REDMI cellphone, which are now undergoing forensic examination as part of the investigation.
The suspect denied the allegations, claiming there was no intimate video and insisting he had done nothing wrong.
He is facing charges for grave coercion under Article 286 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and for violating Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
Police urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with people they meet online and to verify a person's identity before agreeing to meet in person.
