Valenzuela City gov't launches digital payout for 797 scholars

The Valenzuela City government has launched a digital payout system for the Dr. Pio Valenzuela Scholarship Program to make the release of scholarship grants faster and more convenient for beneficiaries.

The scholarship payout was launched on Wednesday, July 29, at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela, alongside the orientation and contract signing of new scholars.
Under the program, 797 Valenzuelano scholars, including 205 incoming freshmen, will now receive their scholarship grants through ATM cards instead of manual cash payouts.
Before the launch, qualified scholars signed their contracts and attended an orientation on how to access their grants through their enrolled bank accounts.
The city government also held a ceremonial distribution of ATM cards.
The local government said the digital payout system aims to reduce waiting time and eliminate long queues during grant distribution.
Mayor Weskie “Wes” Gatchalian said the initiative is part of the city government's continuing efforts to digitalize public services and make government assistance more accessible to residents.
“Natutuwa ho ako. Masarap sa pakiramdam na ang pera po ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Valenzuela ay nagagamit sa tama (I am happy. It is fulfilling to know that the funds of the Valenzuela City government are being used for the right purpose),” he said.
Gatchalian said the scholarship program has helped improve the lives of many Valenzuelano students.
“Kaya sana po ay ipagpatuloy natin, pagpursigihin natin. ‘Wag natin sayangin ang pagkakataon (I hope you will continue striving and persevere. Let us not waste this opportunity),” the mayor said.
The local government said it will continue enhancing programs and services that support the education of Valenzuelano students.
