Student from Bohol faces raps for bomb threat

CEBU CITY – Charges are being readied against a 20-year-old student in Bohol who admitted to be behind a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.

Police said the student executed an extrajudicial confession to admit the deed which is punishable under Presidential Decree No. 1727 or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law.

Rey (not his real name) is a student of the San Miguel Technical Vocational High School (SMTVHS). He said he was only joking when he told his classmates that a bomb would explode in the school.

“Mabungkag ng building ninyo (The building will explode),” the student allegedly told his classmates through Facebook messenger.

The student said he only wanted to get the attention of his classmates after his sibling was bullied.

The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) said charges are being prepared against the student.

The BPPO emphasized that such actions disrupt community peace and warned that others engaging in similar behavior will be held legally liable.
