The Yuchengco Group’s Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) reported a 22.6 percent drop in net income to ₱4.11 billion in the first half of 2026 from ₱5.3 billion a year earlier, weighed down by higher credit impairment provisions amid heightened geopolitical uncertainties.
However, the bank disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange that despite these headwinds, its core business sustained its momentum.
Gross income reached ₱33.91 billion, up 11.6 percent, fueled by an 18.2 percent increase in net interest income as strategic loan expansion and improved funding efficiency lifted net interest margin to 5.1 percent. Continued cost discipline also reduced the cost-to-income ratio to 53.6 percent.
Total customer loans grew nine percent to ₱806 billion, led by the consumer segment, which jumped 22 percent to ₱402.4 billion. The bank attributed this growth to its data analytics capabilities and strategic partnerships that enabled targeted customer acquisition.
RCBC said it continued to pursue selective portfolio growth through prudent underwriting and risk selection.
Total assets stood at ₱1.41 trillion, while total capital reached ₱150.84 billion, with a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 13.4 percent—well above regulatory minimum requirements. The bank maintains prudent capital and liquidity levels amid market volatility.
Total deposits reached ₱1.06 trillion, providing a stable funding base. To build stronger customer connections and expand its reach, RCBC continued to strengthen its digital payments ecosystem.
"We are navigating a complex and shifting macroeconomic landscape. However, we have been building up our defenses, strengthening our balance sheet, and pursuing measured portfolio growth to protect, scale, and elevate the strong franchise that is RCBC," said RCBC President and CEO Reginaldo B. Cariaso.
As of June 30, 2026, RCBC serves its customers through a network of 471 RCBC and RCBC Microbank branches, 1,518 RCBC ATMs, and 5,086 ATM Go terminals, expanding its footprint nationwide. (James A. Loyola)
