Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will soon join the fiercely competitive plug-in hybrid (PHEV) segment. The automaker will unveil its new Outlander PHEV in GT trim this August.
The Mitsubishi Outlander GT PHEV was previewed earlier this year during the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). There, Mitsubishi revealed the new look and upgrades the fourth-generation electrified crossover will sport.
Powertrain
With many new competitors, particularly from Chinese automakers, Mitsubishi has appropriately updated its powertrain. The upcoming Outlander will be powered by a 2.4-liter gasoline engine that makes 133-PS with 195-Nm of torque. It will be paired with two electric motors producing 116-PS and 255-Nm (in front), and 136-PS and195-Nm of torque (in the rear). This hybrid system will be powered by a new 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that will give it up to 86-km of EV mode range (WLTP cycle) and a combine range of 844-km. It also has a built-in V2L mode with a 240V power outlet onboard.
The Outlander PHEV will also allow drivers to choose the best drive mode for the situation with selectable modes like EV, Series, Hybrid, and Parallel Hybrid.
The Outlander continues to be a capable off-roader with AWD capability and suspended on lightweight but rigid aluminum suspension components. Drivers will also be able to choose from AWD modes like Normal, Eco, Power, Gravel, Mud, and Snow.
New look
Like all Mitsubishi’s, the Outlander GT bears the brand’s distinctive Dynamic Shield design language. It sports updated LED headlights & taillights. Integrated into its design are active shutters in the grilles to further improve aerodynamics at high speed. Adding to its curbside appeal are large 20-inch six-spoke alloy wheels rolling on 255/45 series tires. The Outlander features a ground clearance of 199-mm of ground clearance. Up on top, it also gets a power sunroof,
Updated interior
Inside, the Outlander GT AWD is also a comfortable and connected vehicle. The driver gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and power-adjustable seats with memory. It has a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, full leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, 60:40 split rear seats, a wireless charging pad, sunshades for the rear passengers, a three-zone climate control, a multi-around-view monitor, and a hands-free power tailgate.
It also has an extensive safety features list that includes intelligent driver aids like as blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, lane-change assist, forward collision warning, automatic high-beams, driver attention alert, and rear-cross traffic alert.
The Outlander GT PHEV will be launched later this August with prices to be revealed at a later date.
