Ley La Salle concludes Business Law Conference 2026 tackling consumer protection in the modern marketplace
For over a decade, the Business Law Conference has stood as Ley La Salle’s premier flagship event, consistently bridging the intersection of law and business. This annual event serves as an avenue for students to connect with industry leaders, expanding their legal knowledge and gaining practical insights from invited experts. Through the Business Law Conference, Ley La Salle fulfills its mission to be advocates in passion and in law.
This year, Ley La Salle continued its legacy as they held Business Law Conference 2026: Consumer Protection in the Modern Marketplace on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1 p.m to 4:30 p.m., at the Natividad Fajardo-Rosario Gonzalez Auditorium, 18th Floor, Brother Andrew Gonzalez Hall, De La Salle University-Manila.
The conference tackled the topic through four pillars. Consumer Welfare in Evolving Markets focused on consumer rights and fair trade practices within rapidly evolving online and offline markets. Next, Accountability in the Age of Influence and Digitalization examined the ethical responsibilities of online businesses, influencers, content creators. Third, Regulation, Governance, and Public Interest explored the regulatory and institutional frameworks to balance market innovation with public welfare. Lastly, Social Responsibility and Responsible Leadership emphasized the role of these two concepts in the role of business figures in protecting consumers through leadership, practices, and values-driven decision making. These discussions aimed to equip students with knowledge in navigating the digital economy and understanding their rights in it.
The conference theme offered a comprehensive exploration of the rapidly expanding digital marketplace, driven by the surge of online transactions and influencer-led commerce. As this industry continues to evolve, consumer awareness and literacy needs to advance at the same pace to protect consumer rights and uphold ethical business practices. By deconstructing this topic through the four pillars, the event equipped attendees with the legal and business perspectives needed to analyze modern regulatory frameworks and assert their consumer rights in the modern economy.
The conference featured a distinguished lineup of legal and industry experts spanning from the government, private sector, and academia. These were: Atty. Amanda Marie F. Nograles, partner at Nograles Law Officers and former Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry; Atty. Eunice Monsod, group chief compliance officer of Salmon Group and chairperson of Salmon Bank; Atty. Edwin Maurice M. Calanog, senior partner at Migrino, Calanog & Dacanay Law Offices and faculty member at De La Salle University; and Atty. Ann Claire C. Cabocha, deputy director general for Operations of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. Drawing from their extensive backgrounds in consumer rights, corporate compliance, trade regulation, and intellectual property, these speakers provided participants with practical and multi-dimensional perspectives on navigating the modern marketplace in terms of consumer protection.
The Business Law Conference 2026 offered a timely look into the invisible legal and business frameworks that govern our daily lives. The conference welcomed all students eager to explore the intersections of consumer protection, governance, and other relevant legal concepts.
