Exit points set to ease cargo release at NAIA

Exit points at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and Duty Free warehouses will open Aug. 1 to ease cargo release after months of shipment delays.

The measure was finalized after a series of meetings led by NAIA Customs District Collector Maria Yasmin Mapa, following the directive of Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno.

Sources said the agreement came after consultations among government agencies.

Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President Atty. Agnes Devanadera, joined by business representatives from Clark, personally visited NAIA to press Mapa and PAIR Cargo President Joseph Madrigal to fast-track the release of transshipment cargo bound for the Clark Freeport Zone.

Shipment delays had dragged on for months due to a surge in international cargo volume, compounded by the closure of the PhilSkylander Cargo building to make way for the construction of NAIA Terminal 4.
