ILOILO CITY – A college teacher in New Washington town, Aklan province succumbed to injuries days after he was repeatedly punched by a 19-year-old teenager.
The victim was identified as Timoteo Jumayao, a 52-year-old maritime instructor of Aklan Polytechnic College and originally from Iloilo province.
The New Washington Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the suspect as 19-year-old Renz Cipriano.
The incident occurred in an advance graduation dinner attended by the victim and the suspect last July 26.
An argument erupted between the two after drinking the whole night. The victim decided to leave the event to prevent the altercation from escalating.
The victim was on board his motorcycle ready to leave when the suspect appeared and started punching him until he slumped to the ground. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died last July 28.
Police Lt. Jerwin Eulalio, deputy chief of the New Washington MPS, said the suspect is facing a homicide charge following the victim’s death.
