Artillery battery deployed to Eastern Samar to combat NPA
TACLOBAN CITY – The Light Deployable Battery (LDB) of the Artillery Regiment of the Philippine Army has been deployed to Eastern Sanar.
The 8th Infantry "Stormtroopers" Division welcomed the arrival of the unit that will strengthen the operational capabilities of the 8th ID as it steps up targeted military operations to neutralize the remaining members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Eastern Visayas.
The LDB is equipped with the Italian Pack Howitzer (IPH), a lightweight, highly mobile artillery system designed to deliver responsive and accurate indirect fire support in mountainous terrain.
Compared to the traditional 105 mm howitzer, the Italian Pack Howitzer can be easily disassembled, transported, and reassembled.
Its mobility and firepower will enable maneuver units to conduct more effective combat operations while protecting the safety of troops and civilians.
The 8th ID assured the people that the deployment of the LDB is intended to strengthen legitimate military operations against armed threat groups while strictly adhering to International Humanitarian Law (IHL), human rights, and the rule of law.
