SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – Double murder and frustrated murder charges were filed on Wednesday, July 29, before the City Prosecutor's Office here against two suspects in the fatal shooting of an Overseas Filipino Worker’s son and his companion in Malasiqui, Pangasinan last week.
Police said the suspects are residents of Malasiqui like the victims.
Investigators said revenge is the motive for the attack but the shooting is a case of mistaken identity as the target was not among those who were shot, said Malasiqui police chief Police Lt. Col. Francisco Sawadan.
The victim, Harryvel Belo, and two companions were standing on a roadside on July 25 in Barangay Barang when two unidentified men on a motorcycle appeared and shot them.
Belo and his 23-year-old male companion were declared dead in a hospital. Their female companion, 21, is recuperating in a hospital.
His mother promptly arrived to attend to his funeral.
Police said they considered the case solved with the filing of the case.
Lawmen established the identities of the suspects and built a case thru CCTV footages and the testimonies of witnesses.
The case will undergo preliminary investigation before the City Prosecutor's Office.
