Relief aid ready amid LPA rains, says DSWD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said its response teams are ready to assist communities that may be affected by the rains brought by a low-pressure area (LPA).
The agency said 4.8 million food packs are available nationwide for augmentation to local government units that may need to provide immediate assistance to families and individuals affected by the weather disturbance.
“Secretary Rex Gatchalian immediately directed our Field Office regional directors to prepare for the possible effects of the approaching bad weather. This includes their respective mobile command centers, mobile kitchens, and, of course, our Angels in Red Vests who deliver assistance whenever there is a disaster,” DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said.

“Please coordinate with your local governments to find out where you can seek assistance should you be affected by the bad weather,” Dumlao said.
DSWD said family food packs and other relief items have already been prepositioned in various hubs, warehouses, and last-mile facilities nationwide to ensure that assistance can be delivered quickly to affected communities.
The Luzon Disaster Resource Center in Pasay City has 718,024 family food packs available, while Central Luzon has 718,797 food packs, Calabarzon has 227,306, Mimaropa has 172,746, and Bicol Region has 345,945.
