Quezon Memorial Circle opens new field for public recreation

The Quezon City government has expanded public recreational spaces at the Quezon Memorial Circle with the opening of a 12,000‑square‑meter multi‑purpose field designed for sports, leisure, and community activities.
Mayor Joy Belmonte inaugurated the facility on Saturday, July 25, as the latest addition to the city's continuing redevelopment of the QMC into a more accessible and vibrant public destination.
The 12,000-square-meter open field features walking paths lined with lamp posts, landscaped areas, scenic views of the Quezon Memorial Shrine, a pond, and an amphitheater for sports, recreation, and community activities.
The city government also opened a new dog park within the QMC, offering dedicated play areas and agility obstacles, including an open tunnel and an A-frame, as well as benches and litter bins for pet owners.
According to the city government, the open field and dog park are part of its ongoing redevelopment program aimed at encouraging more residents and visitors to make use of the park's expanding open spaces.
The project also includes a retention pond and detention tank that will help mitigate flooding by collecting rainwater for reuse in future city projects.
Earlier this year, the city also opened a competition-standard skate park and a public lawn tennis court at the QMC under the same redevelopment initiative.
Additional facilities are also being developed at the park, including a view corridor, a stepped lawn, and courts for basketball, volleyball, futsal, and pickleball.
The QMC is also home to several historical and cultural attractions, including the Quezon Memorial Shrine, the Quezon City Heritage House, the Presidential Car Museum, and Bahay Modernismo.
