PRO-3 steps up drive vs bomb threat hoaxes

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Police Regional Office-3 has intensified its campaign against bomb threat hoaxes targeting schools in Central Luzon.
PRO-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez warned perpetrators will face arrest and criminal charges.
Mendez said they are continuously tracking down those responsible for spreading these bomb threat hoaxes through social media, email, messaging applications, and other digital platforms.
PRO-3 said they have responded to 47 bomb threats in schools since May 1. All these were confirmed to be hoaxes but were treated as legitimate threat, resulting in the deployment of police personnel, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, K9 units, and emergency responders.
Intensified investigation resulted in the arrest of two 18-year-old suspects – one from Bulacan and the other from Nueva Ecija – who are now facing appropriate criminal charges.
“Bomb threats are not pranks. They are criminal acts,” Mendez said, adding that those using anonymous accounts or electronic devices to spread fear will be traced and held accountable.
Mendez said sending false threats have serious consequences, including public panic, disruption of education, and unnecessary deployment of government resources.
The PRO-3 Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams, K9 units, and the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit-3 (RACU-3) continue to coordinate efforts to identify and prosecute individuals behind these threats.
Police urged people to report suspicious messages or activities to the nearest police station or through the 911 emergency hotline.
