Jollibee to double Tim Ho Wan stores in Taiwan with stronger franchisee

Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC), one of the largest Asian food service companies, has unveiled a four-year growth plan to double Tim Ho Wan’s store network in Taiwan by advancing its franchise-led expansion strategy.

The firm said it plans to increase Tim Ho Wan’s dim sum store network from 16 to 32 locations by 2030 in Taiwan, where it has a strong franchisee platform.

“Taiwan is one of Tim Ho Wan’s most established and successful franchise markets, and we are excited about the opportunity to bring the brand to even more consumers in the years ahead,” said Tim Ho Wan Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lee Yeong Sheng Lee.

He added that, “Our four-year growth plan builds on the strength of the brand, the capabilities of our Taiwan franchisee, and the market’s long-term potential. The new concept store format we plan to pilot in Taiwan is designed to reach increasingly mobile consumers and generate learnings that can support Tim Ho Wan’s growth in other markets.”

“The recent Yoho and Mikiki openings were a hit, and the two stores contributed almost 20 percent of Tim Ho Wan HK [Hong Kong] sales despite being newly opened,” said Unicapital Securities Inc. research analyst Jeri R. Alfonso.

She noted that, “Tim Ho Wan is one of JFC’s best-performing brands. Just for a bit of context, the brand’s EBITDA [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization] has already grown 3.6 times from the first quarter of 2025’s ₱28.4 million, largely because the new stores are delivering.”

“We recently spoke with their team, and they said there’s nothing in the M&A [mergers and acquisitions] pipeline at the moment. Right now, JFC seems to be putting more weight on their existing brands that continue to execute well in today’s environment. Tim Ho Wan checks that box. Sure, it’s still small, contributing only around two percent of JFC’s total sales, but growth is growth, and the brand could become a much more meaningful contributor over time,” Alfonso added.

The growth plan is supported by a strengthened Taiwan franchise platform, with Hoyii Life serving as Tim Ho Wan’s exclusive franchise operator in the market and supporting both owned-store development and sub-franchise expansion.

Its expansion capacity is further strengthened by the entry of Collins Co. Ltd., a Taiwan-listed diversified group with interests in trading, retail, healthcare, and renewable energy (RE), as Hoyii Life’s majority shareholder, providing additional resources to support store growth and new-format development.

The expansion reinforces Tim Ho Wan’s role as a future growth platform for Jollibee Group, particularly in Chinese cuisine.

Founded in Hong Kong in 2009 and known for making high-quality Hong Kong dim sum accessible to more consumers, Tim Ho Wan became part of Jollibee Group’s portfolio following the completion of the transfer of ownership and management in January 2025.

In its first full year under Jollibee Group, Tim Ho Wan’s Sham Shui Po store also received its 17th consecutive Michelin recognition, underscoring the brand’s continued quality standards.

“Since Tim Ho Wan became part of Jollibee Group, we have felt a stronger level of support behind the brand—from marketing and dining experience to product development, training, and operational guidance,” said Jeff Lin, CEO of Hoyii Life, Tim Ho Wan’s franchise operator in Taiwan.

He noted that, “With Jollibee Group’s extensive F&B [food and beverage] experience, clear roadmap for Tim Ho Wan’s future, cohesive global brand strategy, and insights from its direct operating markets, we are confident that Tim Ho Wan can double its footprint in Taiwan by 2030 while continuing to deliver the quality and familiarity customers have come to trust.”

For Jollibee Group, the Taiwan plan highlights how Tim Ho Wan can be scaled across international markets through a franchise-led model that combines brand equity, capable franchisees, and market-relevant formats. Tim Ho Wan currently has a global footprint of more than 80 locations across multiple markets.

“Tim Ho Wan gives Jollibee Group a distinctive platform in Chinese cuisine, anchored by a globally recognized brand, proven menu offerings, and opportunities for disciplined, market-relevant expansion,” said JFC International CEO and Jollibee Group Global Chief Financial and Risk Officer Richard Shin.

He explained that, “Our Taiwan growth plan reflects how the brand can create long-term value by working with capable franchisees to expand in markets where consumers are seeking authentic and accessible Asian dining experiences.”
