Doc Liza Ong diagnosed with breast cancer as Doc Willie continues fight against sarcoma

The Ong family is facing another health battle after Dr. Anna Liza "Doc Liza" Ong revealed that she has been diagnosed with early-stage invasive ductal carcinoma, the most common form of breast cancer. The diagnosis comes as her husband, physician and health advocate Doc Willie Ong, continues treatment for stage 4 sarcoma.
Doc Willie disclosed his cancer diagnosis in 2024 and has since undergone chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy while keeping supporters updated on his progress through social media. Throughout his treatment, he has continued to encourage Filipinos to prioritise early detection and regular medical check-ups.
In a recent health update, Doc Willie shared that Doc Liza had also been diagnosed with cancer. According to the couple, her breast cancer was detected at an early stage, improving the chances of successful treatment.
For years, the couple has educated millions of Filipinos about disease prevention, including the importance of breast self-examinations, routine screening and seeking prompt medical care for suspicious symptoms. Their personal experience now underscores the very message they have long advocated: early detection can save lives.
