Cops arrest 1,333 wanted persons in Mimaropa

Police have arrested a total of 1,333 wanted persons in the Mimaropa region in an aggressive intelligence-driven manhunt since January this year using the arrest warrants issued by courts for various offenses.
Brig. Gen. Christopher R. Dela Cruz, director of the Police Regional Office 4 B, said among those arrested were 357 in the Most Wanted Persons list, including the provincial most wanted person of Palawan who was collared in Barangay Tubtub, Brooke’s Pointon Tuesday, July 28, for a case of sexual assault on a minor.
Police Regional Office 4B covers the provinces of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan, or Mimaropa.
Citing reports from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), Dela Cruz said also nabbed from Jan. 1 to July 29 this year were 976 fugitives listed in various wanted lists in the municipal and city levels.
“The arrest of 1,333 wanted persons is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and professionalism of our police personnel across the region. Every warrant served represents a court order faithfully enforced and another step toward delivering justice to victims and their families,” said Dela Cruz.,
“We will continue to strengthen our intelligence capabilities, intensify our manhunt operations, and work closely with our partner agencies to ensure that individuals facing criminal charges are located, arrested, and brought before the courts in accordance with the law,” he added.
Dela Cruz Cruz attributed the accomplishment to the dedication of police personnel and the strong coordination among operating and intelligence units in pursuing individuals wanted by the courts.
Those arrested are facing various cases that include murder, rape, violations of special laws, and other crimes.
Among the region’s police offices, the Palawan Police Provincial Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 462 wanted persons, followed by the Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office with 299, and the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office with 230.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) earlier said there are around 500,000 fugitives across the country, which prompted national police chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. to order police commanders to regularly update court-issued arrest warrants.
Part of the order is the regular updating of wanted persons on a monthly basis.
