At least 32 families, or 122 individuals, were displaced after a third-alarm fire hit a residential area in Dagupan Extension, Gagalangin, Tondo before dawn on July 29.

The fire broke out at around 4:09 a.m. and quickly escalated, reaching the third alarm by 4:47 a.m. as flames spread across closely packed homes.

Residents scrambled to salvage belongings as the fire tore through houses, leaving dozens of families without shelter.

Affected families are staying at the barangay covered court.

The Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) has begun providing assistance, including hot meals for evacuees.

Firefighters placed the blaze under control at 5:13 a.m. and declared it out by 5:30 a.m., preventing further spread.

Authorities have yet to release the estimated cost of damage, while an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Response efforts were also stretched after another third-alarm fire broke out almost simultaneously in Paco, forcing authorities to split personnel between the two incidents.

Fire trucks responding to the Tondo blaze had to navigate narrow streets, while traffic built up along nearby roads during firefighting operations.

Despite the challenges, responders were able to contain the fire within more than an hour.
