Stolen motorcycle tracked by GPS; suspect caught with gun in QC

A 19-year-old man was arrested after police tracked a stolen motorcycle through its GPS, recovered the vehicle, and seized an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver from him following a brief chase in Quezon City early Monday, July 27.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Ro” of Barangay Culiat, Quezon City, was arrested by operatives of Project 6 Police Station (PS 15) at around 5:30 a.m. at the corner of Congressional Avenue and Philand Drive in Barangay Bahay Toro.
Police said the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station tracked the stolen Yamaha Aerox motorcycle through its installed GPS and traced it to Congressional Avenue before coordinating with PS 15.
The motorcycle, bearing Plate No. 476UXA, was reported stolen at around 12:05 a.m. on July 26 on Saint Catherine St. in Barangay Geronimo, Rodriguez, Rizal.
Responding policemen later spotted the suspect driving the motorcycle, but he allegedly ignored orders to stop, triggering a brief chase that ended in his arrest.
A body search yielded a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three live rounds. The suspect failed to present any license or legal authority to possess the firearm and ammunition.
Police later confirmed that the recovered motorcycle was the same unit reported stolen in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Investigation also showed that the suspect had a previous physical injuries case involving a mauling incident in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Dec. 30, 2023.
The suspect will face charges for violating Presidential Decree No. 1612, or the Anti-Fencing Law of 1979, and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
