'Sila na ang ayaw': Erwin Tulfo says minority asking to halt flood control probe

Senator Erwin Tulfo has claimed on Tuesday, July 28 that some senators who earlier pushed for the flood control mess probe to continue are now singing a different tune.

Tulfo, chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, said this as Senator Panfilo Lacson continued to gather evidence on alleged "ghost" infrastructure projects in Taguig City.
In an ambush interview, Tulfo said that those trying to block the investigation were not from the majority bloc, meaning, they were from the minority.
Yet the request to postpone the Blue Ribbon hearing came from the "other side".
"Actually po, ang humaharap to tell you the truth, honestly po, yung kabila eh. It's not us po sa majority. I will not name names po, but the truth of the matter is and real talk lang po, sila na po ngayon nakikiusap na huwag na ho namin ituloy yung Blue Ribbon (Actually, to tell you the truth, it's the other side. It's not us in the majority. I won't name names, but the truth of the matter is—and speaking candidly—they're now the ones asking us not to proceed with the Blue Ribbon investigation)," Tulfo said.
Tulfo said he found the alleged request ironic, as he recalled that the same people previously accused the Senate leadership of refusing to conduct the investigation.
"I mean, kayo yung inudyok-udyok niyo itong leadership ni Senator Win, pati ako, sasabihin niyo, tinatago namin. Yon pala, may plano sila, huwag na raw ituloy muna. Ika nga, huwag na raw ituloy yung Blue Ribbon hearing (I mean, you're the ones who kept urging Senator Win's leadership—and even me—claiming that we were covering things up. But it turns out they had a plan all along. They're now saying we shouldn't proceed with the Blue Ribbon hearing for the meantime)," he said.
"Kaya sabi ko ano ba talaga, you have to explain it to the media, you have to explain it to the public na kayo naman ang ayaw. Sila naman ang ayaw ngayon. Kaya hindi ko maintindihan eh. Ano ba talaga ang gusto niyo? (That's why I said, what is it really? You have to explain it to the media. You have to explain it to the public that you're now the ones who don't want it. You're the ones opposing it now. That's what I don't understand. What do you really want?)" he added.
When asked why they allegedly wanted the hearing postponed, Tulfo didn't give a straight answer but suggested it was related to the subject of Lacson's personal probe on Taguig ghost projects.
Pressed further on the matter, Tulfo replied: "Obvious. Ewan ko po sinong pinapa-imbestiga, sinong tinutumbok ni Senator Lacson (It's obvious. I wonder who Senator Lacson is investigating and who he's really going after).
Tulfo is looking to hold its next hearing as early as next week, with the panel expected to formally organize its membership before taking up new investigations.
Tulfo bared that former Taguig mayor Lito Cayetano and another former city mayor were willing to submit documents.
He said he would first coordinate with Lacson to determine the next course of action.
