Seventeen's DK, Vernon set military enlistment dates

K-pop group Seventeen members DK and Vernon will begin South Korea's mandatory military service next month, their agency, Pledis Entertainment announced on Sunday.

Vernon will start his military service on Aug. 20, while DK will enlist as an active-duty soldier on Sept. 8, the agency said. Both will complete their scheduled official activities before entering the military.

Pledis asked fans not to visit the enlistment ceremonies or Vernon's alternative service location, citing safety concerns as other enlistees and their families will also be present.

The agency said the two members will be unable to participate in Seventeen's group activities during their service but will continue to connect with fans through pre-recorded content.

Pledis also encouraged fans, known collectively as CARAT, to send messages of support through the fan community platform Weverse.

South Korea requires most able-bodied men to complete mandatory military service, typically lasting about 18 to 21 months depending on the branch.

Jeonghan became the first Seventeen member to complete his military service after being discharged on June 25.

Wonwoo, Hoshi and Woozi are currently serving in the military, leaving DK and Vernon as the latest members of the 13-member group to enlist.
