PRO-2 deploys 1,000 cops to secure SONA

CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2  deployed 1,000 police officers to Quezon City to secure President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s fifth State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27.
PRO 2 Director Police Brig. Gen. Mariano C. Rodriguez reminded them during their send-off ceremony on Sunday, July 26, to remain disciplined, professional, and look after one another throughout the mission.
“Take care of yourselves and protect one another. The PRO-2 command assures you of its full support and remains committed to safeguarding your welfare throughout this mission. Once your duty is completed, it is my sincere prayer that each of you returns safely to your families and loved ones with the same honor and dignity you carry today,” he said.
“We look forward to your safe return after ensuring the peaceful, orderly, and secure conduct of the President’s State-of-the-Nation Address,” he added.
The PRO-2 Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) contingent is headed by Police Col. George P. Cablarda and Police Col. Albert A. Calimag and composed of 39 personnel from the regional headquarters, 105 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2,299 from the Cagayan Police Provincial Office (PPO), 303 from the Isabela PPO, 104 from the Nueva Vizcaya PPO, 50 from the Quirino PPO, and 100 from the Santiago City Police Office.
Rodriguez said they are on heightened alert and lawmen are strategically positioned throughout Region 2 to maintain peace and order, particularly in areas where protest activities may take place.
“Our police officers are fully prepared to perform their duties with professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights. We encourage the public to cooperate in maintaining peace and order to help ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the State-of-the-Nation Address,” Rodriguez said.
They are expected to return to Region 2 on Tuesday after completing their security mission.
