Police probe Malasiqui shooting; Mistaken identity eyed

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Police are looking at the possibility that the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Harryvel Belo here over the weekend may have been a case of mistaken identity.
The victim's mother, Cherry, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Malaysia, said this in an interview with the Manila Bulletin in their home in this town on Monday.
Cherry, who returned home two days after the shooting Saturday, reiterated her appeal for justice and called on authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
She said that Harryvel was looking forward to finally being reunited with her for good in the Philippines.
"Napagusapan na namin na sa pagbabalik ko sa Pilipinas hindi na muna ako magtrabaho sa Malaysia, pero nabigo kami at hindi na matupad na kami magkakasama," Cherry said.

Cherry said her sacrifice and hard work in Malaysia were all meant to provide a better future for her family.
Probe underway
Police said they are working diligently to solve the incident as quickly as possible.
A report submitted to Police Regional Office-1 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. said investigators have leads that may help identify and arrest the suspects.
Police urged people with relevant information to cooperate with authorities and help solve the incident.
The victim and two companions were standing on a roadside when two unidentified men on a motorcycle appeared and shot them.
Bello and his 23-year-old male companion were declared dead in a hospital. Their female companion, 21, is recuperating in a hospital.
