Manila logs over 2,000 dengue cases

Manila has recorded 2,051 dengue cases from Jan. 1 to July 27, the highest number of infections among water borne, influenza like illnesses, leptospirosis, and dengue (W.I.L.D.) diseases monitored by the city health department.

Three new dengue cases were added on the latest reporting day, the city’s Public Information Office said.
The Manila Health Department’s (MHD) daily disease report also listed 108 leptospirosis cases during the same period, with three new infections on July 27.
Influenza like illnesses reached 816 cases, severe acute respiratory infections 259, confirmed Covide-19 cases 72, typhoid fever 61, and cholera three.
For July 27 alone, the city logged four new severe acute respiratory infection cases, two confirmed Covid-19 cases, one typhoid fever case, three leptospirosis cases, and three dengue cases.
Figures were based on the Electronic Disease Case Surveillance Information System (EDCS IS) report extracted at 5 a.m. on July 27.
The MHD reminded residents to keep surroundings clean, avoid wading in floodwaters, eliminate stagnant water that may serve as mosquito breeding sites, and seek immediate medical consultation if symptoms appear.
