Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said on Monday, July 27 that Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s continuous attempt to bring up alleged “ghost projects” in Taguig City only shows how much the latter loves him.
“Ganun niya ako kamahal na paggising sa umaga ako naalala niya (That’s how he loves me that once he wakes up in the morning, all he remembers is me),” Cayetano told reporters in an interview.
“From May 11, when I took the job, I knew that many persecution will be coming my way. Hindi ko lang na-expect (I just didn’t expect) it's through a senior senator na maraming bilib sa (whom many people believe is good with) investigation skills,” the minority leader added.
“But ongoing, everyday naman, may konti siyang (he always has some) amendment, etc. But like yung sinabi niya today, hindi ko alam saan nanggaling yun (But like what he said today, I don’t know where that is coming from),” he said.
“I'm not the secretary of DPWH. I'm not the regional director. I'm not an engineer. But of course, taga Taguig ako (I’m from Taguig). So as much as I can binabantayan ko (I guard everything). It's on the record,” Cayetano said.
Prior to this, Lacson disclosed more irregularities regarding infrastructure projects in Taguig City, Cayetano’s political bailiwick.
According to Lacson, more cases of double billing and collection involving infrastructure projects in Taguig City have been uncovered and documented by his office, and the proof of the money trail will be submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman soon.
Lacson said the additional projects, likewise, involve the "sharing" of photographs of anomalous infrastructure projects for billing and collection purposes.
"TAGUIG GHOST INFRA PROJECTS UPDATE #5: Before some preacher dismisses “sharing photographs” to bill and collect in Taguig’s anomalous infra projects as an isolated case, there are more of the same in our files. All these and more, including the proof of the money trail will find their way to the Ombudsman soon," Lacson said in a post on X.

This latest disclosure is in addition to the evidence Lacson released on Sunday, pointing to double billing and collection involving infrastructure projects in Taguig City.
On Sunday, Lacson bared evidence involving a single slope protection project getting two separate budget appropriations.
Cayetano, however, said he is ready to face the series of corruption allegations hurled against him by Lacson.
“May in-expose din ako ng mga tiwali na contractor na kung ano-anong ginagawa (I also exposed a corrupt contractor who committed irregularities) whether it's in our city or otherwise. Hanggang ngayon, hindi nakakasuhan yung contractor na yun (Until now, that contractor has not been charged),” he lamented.
He also pointed out he made enemies in Taguig City, with some officials being removed, whether in local government, national government or contractor.
“So maaring yun yung mga nagsusumbong. So i-verify lang nila mabuti. Pero haharapin namin yun (So maybe these were the people who tattled. So they should verify it very carefully. But we will face that),” Cayetano said.
"Wala naman kaming choice kundi harapin yun. Ang hinihingi lang naman namin is that makita nung tao yung bigger picture na kung sinong nag-iimbestiga, kung sinong nagki-criticize, biglang sila yung gustong imbestigahan. Hindi naman natin inaatrasan yan pero hindi dapat ang ma-single out (We have no choice but to face it. We just ask that the people see the bigger picture that whoever is investigating, whoever is criticizing, suddenly they are the ones being investigated. We are not afraid but they should not be singled out),” he lamented.
