Bohol, San Juan City ink sisterhood agreement

CEBU CITY – The local government units of Bohol and San Juan City vowed to share best practices after formally forging a sisterhood agreement.

Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora led the signing of the sisterhood agreement during the Sandugo Festival on Sunday, July 26.

“The signing of the sisterhood agreement is very timely as it was done during the celebration of Sandugo,” Aumentado said.

Sandugo Festival highlights an ancient Filipino blood compact ritual used to seal friendship, alliance, or brotherhood.

Aumentado said the sisterhood agreement will help Bohol strengthen connectivity.

“Bohol is a prime tourism destination. We need more connectivity and Mayor Zamora promised to help promote our province in San Juan,” said Aumentado.

Zamora said the sisterhood will strengthen cooperation in governance, economic development, cultural exchange, and the sharing of best practices between San Juan and Bohol.

Under the agreement, the two LGUs will help each other promote tourism, trade, commerce and industry, science and technology, culture and arts, urban planning and development, education, youth and sports development, environmental protection, public health, and social service.

Zamora said Boholano traders can showcase their products in San Juan. “You can bring your products to Greenhills,” Zamora said.

The San Juan Mayor promised to promote Bohol’s top tourist spots. “Bohol is very popular when it comes to tourism sites. I’ve been here several times and I never fail to visit its beaches,” said Zamora.
