600 cops deployed to secure SONA in NIR

BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has mobilized nearly 600 personnel in the region to ensure the peaceful, orderly, and secure conduct of the fifth State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 27.
All units in the region have been placed on alert, and personnel remain vigilant, disciplined, and mission-focused as they relentlessly prevent any threat to peace and order.
Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, emphasized that the safety and security of the public remain their foremost priority throughout the national event.
“We respect and uphold every citizen’s constitutional right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, and we remain committed to protecting those rights,” Cardiño said in a statement.
He called on people to exercise these freedoms responsibly and within the bounds of the law.
Cardiño said that these personnel which is on top of the PRO-NIR’s regular deployment aims to sustain police operational readiness, intensify monitoring efforts, and ensure the immediate response to any security concern that may arise in connection with the event.
They are also in close coordination with partner agencies, force multipliers, and local government units to guarantee a unified and effective security effort before, during, and after the event.
