Man arrested for abusing niece; threats silenced victim for over 2 years
A man was arrested in Pasig City for allegedly abusing his 13-year-old niece, who remained silent for more than two years following threats not to report the abuse.
The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as “Bert,” 52, listed as the No. 2 most wanted person at the district level for cases of two counts of statutory rape and violation of Republic Act No. 7610.
Bert was arrested on Friday night, July 24, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Family Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 12, Pasig City.
According to the 13-year-old victim, she was repeatedly subjected to sexual abuse by her uncle from October 2023 until February 2026.
Authorities said she disclosed that the suspect had allegedly threatened and intimidated her to prevent her from reporting the alleged abuse for an extended period.
However, after she could no longer endure the abuse, she eventually told her teacher about it. The teacher promptly informed her mother, which led to the filing of criminal charges against the suspect.
Bert is currently detained at the Pasig City Police Station Custodial Facility Unit pending the court’s commitment order.
