Isolated rain showers possible in Metro Manila during Marcos' SONA — PAGASA

No tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivers his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27, although Metro Manila may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Obet Badrina said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and localized thunderstorms will be the dominant weather systems that may affect the country during the SONA.
The habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains Ilocos Region, Bataan, and Zambales.
Mostly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over Metro Manila, where the SONA will be held, as well as in the rest of the country, particularly in the afternoon or evening, due to localized thunderstorm activity.
Light to moderate southwesterly to southerly winds will prevail over Luzon, while light to moderate southeasterly to southerly winds will affect Visayas and Mindanao.
Badrina also said there is no new low-pressure area or tropical cyclone inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
From Tuesday to Thursday, July 28 to 30, generally fair weather is expected across most parts of the country, although isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may still develop in the afternoon or evening.
