CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Police are investigating the death of an 86-year-old man in his home in Barangay Suqui here.
Authorities discovered the man’s body after residents reported foul odor from his house on Friday, July 24.
Police Lt. Col. Michael Caraggayan, Calapan chief of police, said they also found the victim’s 86-year-old wife, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, unconscious. She was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Caraggayan said there were no signs of forced entry and the personal belongings of the victims were intact.
Initial investigation said the male victim may have died of a heart attack.
But Caraggayan said the official cause will be determined by the Scene-of-the-Crime report of the Regional Forensic Unit.
Police appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or speculations while the investigation continues.
Caraggayan said only official and verified updates will be released through the official communications platforms of the Calapan City Police Station.
He said the victims’ two children will arrive from the United State this week to attend to their parents’ funeral arrangements.
