Cagayan folk flee Kiyapo

TUGUEGARAO CITY – Authorities evacuated hundreds of residents in this province due to typhoon Kiyapo.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that 258 individuals from 57 families from Allacapan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Camalanuigan, and Gonzaga were affected by the weather disturbance as of July 24.
Two-hundred forty-three individuals from 54 families were temporarily relocated to seven evacuation centers while 15 individuals from three families sought shelter with relatives.
The PDRRMO said preemptive evacuation was conducted as a safety measure from flood and landslides. No casualties or storm-related incidents have been recorded as of posting time.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), together with the Task Force Lingkod Cagayan-Quick Response Team (TFLC-QRT), is coordinating with municipal disaster offices for possible emergency response.
TFLC stations in Gonzaga, Lal-lo, Ballesteros, and Sanchez Mira are under red alert status to ensure immediate deployment if needed.
People were urged to stay alert, follow local government advisories, and remain prepared as Kiyapo continues to affect parts of the province.
